Dietary Aid- Full-time, Day Shift

Position: Dietary Aide

Location: LB Homes

Status: Full-Time (Approximately 64 hours per pay period)

Schedule: AM Shift AND Every Other Weekend

Pay: $16.70 – $20.10/hour based on experience, education, and skills + $2.00/hour weekend differential

LB Homes is seeking a dependable and customer-focused Dietary Aide to join our Food Service team during the morning shift. This role plays an important part in ensuring our residents receive high-quality meals in a clean, welcoming environment. We’re looking for someone who comes to work on-time and is ready for the day, takes pride in their work, communicates well with others, and contributes to a positive team environment. Essential Job Functions:

  • Regular, punctual, and predictable attendance is required.
  • Able to read and clearly understand the diet requirements for each resident.
  • Ability to stock shelves and storage areas with required number of supplies.
  • Ability to assemble a meal plate in accordance with the guidelines provided by the department.
  • Follows all safe food handling procedures according to State of Minnesota requirements.
  • Performs sanitation activities in all areas associated with the Dietary Department which includes, but is not limited to, cleaning and preparing serving areas, utensils and dishes, sweeping and mopping kitchen area floors, washing dishes, disposing of trash, and performing other sanitation activities as directed by Management.

  • Provides a high level of customer satisfaction.
  • Ability to work alone and as part of a team.
  • Able to take and record temperatures of food and equipment as required by the health department.
  • Ensures that all residents are and will continue to receive care that reflects the goals and principles of resident-centered care.
  • Willing to assist other team members in their tasks.
  • Inspects supplies, equipment, and work areas to ensure efficient service and conformance to standards.
  • Must be able to carry up to 20 pounds and walk, stand, and sit frequently.
  • May have to lift up to 50 pounds occasionally.
  • Must be able to push and pull carts and reach.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Must be able to read, write, speak, and understand the English language
  • Must possess the ability to make independent decisions, to follow instructions, and to accept constructive criticism
  • Must possess the ability to deal tactfully with personnel, residents, family members, visitors, etc.
  • Must be able to sit, stand, lift, and move intermittently throughout the workday
  • Must be able to relate to and work with our elderly residents
  • Must be able to lift, push, pull, and remove equipment, supplies etc.

Education and Requirements

  • High School diploma or equivalent. Six months or more experience in a customer service role preferred.

  • Must be at least 16 years old.
